Handpainted Wooden Flower

...Every flower is a soul blossoming in nature...
Hello Everyone!!!!

I've neglected my blog lately but I'm back today with another handpainted piece...I painted this wooden flower in a bright red for my friend, Patty...I added the little stick on ladybugs for a little whimsy...Patty has it in her kitchen window and is quite tickled with it...I've been enjoying painting on wood with my acrylics but it's back to papercrafing again and I will have more art to post soon.

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer...As for me, I can't wait for autumn!!!....Thank you for stopping by today....Kathy

Handpainted Wooden Bird

Flora Belle
On a recent trip to Michael's, my friend and I came across an aisle full of wonderful springtime, wooden objects...I ended up buying wooden pinwheels, heart shaped wooden stakes with slate on the front, a birdhouse, a flower and this cute little bird...I painted Flora Belle for a 'just because' gift for my sister...I used acrylic paints and gave her a coat of matte finish...

This was a fun project to do... I do wish I had got myself a bird, too, so I will have to go back and get one or two, or three more...They're just so darn cute...Thanks for stopping by today...I love when you drop by for a visit...Kathy

Poodle Notecard

"Art releases the secrets of the soul"
Wishing everyone a Blessed Easter and Passover....Today I have a poodle notecard to show you...I made a bunch of these for a gift to my aunt who absolutely adores and goes nuts over poodles...I couldn't resist the cute, pink poodle paper...I kept the notecards simple so that she can use them for a variety of reasons and I did a matching envelope, as well, to try and keep the cuteness going...

Spring is slow coming to New England this year but the tulips are peeking out in the yard and the robins have returned...Thank you for all of your lovely comments and for visiting today...I'll be doing some painting projects next and will share soon............Kathy

Floral Tag

Friends are the flowers in the garden of life
The February swap in my ArtHaven group was to make a tag with a floral theme..Well, I guess this is floral, alright...The background paper is from Graphic 45..The pictures I had in my stash but the black lace ribbon with pink roses is brand new and so pretty...I cut some roses off of it and added them to the paper flowers scattered on the pictures..A tiny pale blue jewel in the lady's hair adds just a touch of sparkle..

It's snowing here in Boston and very windy...Spring is just around the corner, though..Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you come again soon......Kathy

Round Paper Mache Box

Front View
This is a paper mache box that I made for a friend...I got out the acrylics and painted it in blue and white stripes...On the top of the cover I added a vintage crocheted doily and some pretty, paper flowers with pearls in matching colors...My friend is a professional seamstress and artist so for a sewing look I draped tape measure ribbon around the front of the box and added lots of vintage buttons...I also painted the top of a wooden spool with blue flowers and wrapped a pretty strip of lace around it for her to use...I placed the spool inside the box as part of the gift...She loved it and has it displayed in her sewing room and I'm so happy about that...

Top of Cover
 Painted Flowers on Wooden Spool
Lace on Spool
Well, we're still digging out from the blizzard here in Massachusetts...Maybe more snow on the way, too...That's winter in New England..I hope everyone is safe, warm and cozy...Thank you for visiting my blog today....Kathy

Fashion Lady 1912 Card

Fashion Lady Card
I'm back after a bit of a break and some internet and e-mails problems...I'll start off the New Year with this birthday card that I made for a dear friend...I used the lovely "A Ladies' Diary" papers from Graphic 45...I couldn't resist these gorgeous papers so I bought the 12x12 pad...That way I can use and enjoy them without hoarding them...LOL

The card is a very long 8 inches and was fun to work on in that size...I used my lace edge, paper punch for the first time and I love the result...I'll be using that again, for sure...I stamped Happy Birthday inside and did a little decorating around that but forgot to take a photo...I also did some distressing along the edges with a Tea Stain distress ink from Tim Holtz..

I have a handpainted box and notecards that I will add soon...Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by my blog today...Hope everyone is keeping warm in this freezing, cold weather......Kathy
