Pink Dot Hat Card

I hope everyone is staying as cool as possible in this heatwave...It hasn't been too bad in the Boston area, but the next 3 days are suppose to be miserable with high humidity and the heat index over 100 degrees...

Well, my friend from Wales is celebrating a birthday this week and I just finished making her this pretty hat card...We have been pen pals since we were about 10 years old, but I'm not saying how many years that has been...LOL   We recently had a chance to finally meet each other, twice actually...One of those times was 3 years ago when we met for Thanksgiving breakfast at a hotel in Boston...It was fabulous and one of the most memorable times of my life..

So, this hat card is a little different shape than the others I have done.. I have been sketching some new styles...I had thought that I wanted lots of flowers on this one, but as it turned out, simplicity looked better...I like the dark pink, dotted paper on the brim and the soft floral on the crown....A fancy lace band and one big, pretty, soft pink flower seemed to be enough..At the last minute I added a string of cream colored pearls along the edge for a little more detail..The card opens from bottom to top and I stamped Happy Birthday inside in black...The back of my cut out cards always match the front, but have less detail...

Thank you for visiting my blog...I love your comments...Stay cool everyone...Happy Birthday Meryl....Kathy
