Paper Mache Witches Hat

Happy Autumn everyone!!!  I love this time of year and today I thought I would kick off the season  with a Halloween goodie...This is a paper mache witches hat that I painted black and then hand painted lots of orange and purple flowers all over it...I added some curly vines and finished it off with a matte acrylic sealer to give it a nice finish....I don't often use my acrylic paints anymore, but these hats are fun to do and when I pick up the paintbrush and really get into it, I realize how much I miss it...

I hope this puts you in a Halloween mood...I'm ready for it but need to get going on my Halloween cards, for sure...Thanks for stopping by my blog...I so appreciate your comments...Kathy

Floral Pocketbook Birthday Card

I created this pocketbook card for my sister's birthday...I love the rosebud print paper which I have had in my stash for a long time and wanted to use it as a base for the purse...I was going for a very floral and feminine look...I added 3 layers of the maroon lace, a big, pink paper flower, some adhesive pearls and the rose colored ribbon for the handle...My sister loves butterflies so I punched one out of pink card stock and added pink glitter to it for a little sparkle...I also edged the floral paper in Victorian Velvet distress ink...She loved the card and I'm so happy about that...Happy Birthday Helene!!!

Well, it''s time to move on to Halloween cards and maybe some tags, too...So, I'm looking forward to having fun with that...I love this time of year and it has turned delightfully cool here in the Boston area with some of the trees already starting to turn...I'll be back soon with some Halloween treats...Thank you for stopping by my blog......Kathy

Remembering...September 11th

The tragedy and horror of that Tuesday morning, September 11th 2001, will never be forgotten..We all remember where we were on that day when we heard the terrifying news...I was at my kitchen table reading a book and having a cup of tea when the phone rang..It was my sister and she couldn't believe I didn't know what was going on, but I hadn't put the tv on that morning...It was a gorgeous, sunny September morn and I was just relaxing with a good book...The book has long been forgotten, but the shock, sadness and horror of that day will be with me for the rest of my life..

Remembering all who lost their lives on that tragic day...May they rest in peace and may their families and loved ones find peace, as well, as we honor their lives and their bravery on this 10th anniversary...

God Bless America...Land That I Love...                   Kathy
