Little Girl's Dress Card

I made this cute, dress card for my little friend, Katie, who will be 4 years old this coming week...I wanted it to be pretty, girlie and sweet, just like she is and I sure hope she likes it...

So, I cut out my dress shape and, after much indecision, I chose the pretty floral and check papers for the base of the dress...I added a pink ribbon sash at the waist and on top of that a pink, ribbon bow and rose...I made a little pocket in the matching floral paper and added the cutest, sparkly, ice cream cone sticker...I thought that was a nice touch for a summer birthday...All little girls have to have their jewelry, so I added the pearl necklace and finished it all off with some light green, jewel gemstones and a little, lace petticoat peeking out from under the skirt...

'By the Beautiful Sea' Tag

My ArtHaven group had a tag swap with the theme 'By the Beautiful Sea' and this is what I came up with...It was fun to do and I love this pretty lady in her old fashioned bathing suit...The image is from a lovely sheet of Graphic 45 scrapbook paper...I added the gold, jewel flowers and their red jewel centers, the cute little jewel stars and a bit of white lace at the bottom of the tag...The 'Surf' and 'Sand' stickers are raised and from my stash...

I'm making myself a 'By the Beautiful Sea' tag, as well...I love the way the Graphic 45 images capture the feel of summer from days gone by and will hang my tag on my berry wreath in my kitchen...

Victorian Style Purse/Pocketbook Card

I thought I would try a different style pocketbook card and I'm happy with the results...I have a beautiful, vintage purse from the 1920's and I used that as my inspiration for this birthday card for a dear friend...

I drew my shape on card stock and then cut it out..The lovely, floral paper reminds me of a tapestry type of material...I added two rows of a heavy, gold lace to the top and it has a little, shimmery sparkle to it, but the camera doesn't pick that up too well...I finished the old fashioned Victorian look with a big, soft pink, stick on jewel for the clasp and a few pearls in a very different color, for accent...They are not quite gold and not quite beige, either...beigey-gold, I guess...The handle is a rose colored ribbon..

I like the shape of this card and will make more...Inside I stamped the sentiment with Tim Holtz's Distress ink in my favorite Victorian Velvet..Next up will be a tag for my ArtHaven group..The theme is "By the beautiful Sea" and I'm really looking forward to playing in this swap..

Purse/Pocketbook Card

I love making these die cut cards and here's another one...I made this little purse/pocketbook card for my cousin's birthday next week..I hope she doesn't peek at my blog...

I cut the shape of the purse out of card stock and then added the stripe and check papers..I edged the purse with Distress Ink from Tim Holtz in Victorian Velvet, to give it a little depth...Love the color... Next came the fun part adding the white lace to the edge of the flap, the pink and white pearls along the top edge and the pretty pink, paper rose from Petaloo..The handle is a soft green ribbon...I stamped Happy Birthday on the inside in the Victorian Velvet...The card opens from bottom to top...

Birthday Cake Card

I made this cut out card for my friend's birthday...I will be giving it to her today and I hope she likes it...She loves purple so I used that as the main color...I added Prima flowers and ribbon lace that reminds me of piping that they put around cakes...I also punched out the butterflies in different colors and then I glittered each one with Stickles Diamond Glitter Glue...The sparkle is so pretty and I love the Martha Stewart punches...  I added lots of pearls and stamped the "Happy Birthday"....Inside it says, "Wishing You a Day Filled With Good Things."

I'm not sure what I will be working on next...I may do the butterfly lottery at ArtHaven and I have a couple of birthday cards to do, too...I'm waiting for some inspiration to hit me... I hope you are all having a good day and thanks for dropping by...You make me smile....Kathy

Another Hat Card

I made another hat card for a friend and for this one I wanted a fresh and springy look so I chose the pretty floral paper, by American Crafts, for the brim and paired it with the softer, pink patterned paper, by Little Yellow Bicycle, for the crown..I added the floral, white lace, a big and bright pink, Prima flower and ribbon tails with tiny, cream colored flowers attached...Inside I stamped "Wishing You Blue Skies and Sunny Days," in a dark pink ink...

Quote Card w/Matching Envie

One of the April swaps in my Arthaven art group was to make a card with a quote and matching envelope...Well, I cheated just a bit and added 2 flowers, but that's okay...I love this quote by Picasso and wanted to make a card that was pretty and artsy at the same time...I stamped the quote on a blank label, added the paper flowers, pink pearls and for a little sparkle, the pink gemstones...On the bottom is a strip of creamed colored, crocheted lace and for the artsy part I added the stick on tubes of acrylic paint...I like the way it blends together with the swap theme and the quote...

For the matching envelope I added a blank label to the front, just like the one on the card and a return address label with a cute little bee on it...The back of the envie has the flap in the matching polka dot paper that is on the card...I also added two roses to pretty it up...

So, now I am off to make a birthday card and a get well card for friends...I hope to join in on the ArtHaven May lottery, too...The theme is butterflies...Should be fun...
